About Us
Pop-Up Bookshop was founded in October 2017. During our fledgling years we exclusively sold award-winning children’s books created by the wonderful Usborne Publishing.
In September 2019, we founded the Great Big Read initiative to get more books into schools and nurseries. Working primarily with local Dorset settings, our fundraising efforts skyrocketed and within 2 years we had seen a whopping £27,000 Usborne books benefit local families and educational settings.
By the end of 2021 we had far outgrown our existing business model. Our Great Big Read initiative was also worthy of creating a much bigger community impact as its own entity.
In January 2022, Pop-Up Bookshop re-launched as an independent children’s bookshop, operating as a mobile retailer. We now stock a wealth of high-quality children’s titles showcasing a range of reputable publishers as well as independent authors. All our books are sold with a huge smile.
The Great Big Read initiative has now helped £34,000 books into the hands of children and is transforming into a social enterprise… watch this space!
