Go All In Reading Campaign

GO ALL IN: 10,000 Hours Of Reading For Fun!

We can finally reveal our incredibly exciting news and the project we have been working tirelessly on all year… Pop-Up Bookshop is launching a brand new Go All In  collective schools campaign to encourage 10,000 hours of reading FOR FUN and to help generate at least £10,000 extra books to benefit local BCP, Dorset and Hampshire schools by the end of 2026!

Go All In is a Department for Education official awareness campaign with National Literacy Trust to celebrate the National Year Of Reading 2026. Pop-Up Bookshop is proudly providing our 10,000 Hours Reading For Fun campaign resources to local schools for free to improve reading engagement and to actively generate school book fundraising. One of our core values is inclusivity and we encourage ALL schools and ALL pupils to join in the fun regardless of demographic or ability to contribute to fundraising.

The 10,000 hours reading challenge is launching to 5,000 pupils at primary schools in just a couple of weeks time. The aim is to increase engagement to 15,000 local school children by the end of 2026 – schools can participate over multiple terms! It’s our BIGGEST campaign to date and we are looking forward to supporting schools to succeed through the joy of reading!

How Does It Work?

Schools choose their own target annual reading hours, termly event duration, and fundraising goals (optional) – all parameters can be tailored to suit the individual school. Pop-Up Bookshop supplies each school with a Giant Clock and Book Tower to track results; pupils or school Reading Ambassadors  are tasked to create an inspiring, fun book display and to build peer-to-peer engagement.

Each child takes a printed termly challenge sheet home, on which they pledge their own target reading hours – a stretch to usual reading habits but with the flexibility to cater for individual abilities.

Pupils read any texts THEY FIND FUN towards school target hours – NO school prescribed texts, NO parental pressure to select specific titles… pure and simple reading for pleasure of any materials they choose! Magazines, recipe books, comics, gaming manuals, cereal boxes, football statistics, Pokemon cards… any and EVERY type of reading is acceptable!

At the end of the termly challenge, pupil reading times are submitted online and via teachers – marvel as each individual school digital clock on our website magically increases. Schools are ranked in our Leaderboard – positions are based on % annual school target reading hours achieved, not fundraising goals.

Each physical school Giant Clock is updated with the running time totals and the Book Tower is filled in for a visual reminder of the campaign progress – can YOU help to reach your SCHOOL target hours?

The Pop-Up Bookshop Grand Total clock combines ALL of the collective hours across ALL schools participating in our campaign – can WE reach 10,000 hours as a COMMUNITY?!

Fantastic Fundraising & Pupil Prizes

Pupils generate optional sponsorship (anyone keen to support can Donate to 10k Campaign here) – 100% sponsorship benefits the school with new books to create a bumper boost to bookshelves!

Pop-Up Bookshop reaches out to the wider community to garner Business Sponsorship, maximising the number of books schools receive – 100% business sponsorship profits benefit our participant schools with extra books. A great way for local businesses to make a positive impact to local educational resources whilst gaining exposure.

Pop-Up Bookshop’s own purposeful profit-share business model of donating £1 for every book we sell fuels this Community Book Fund – we like to lead by example and demonstrate we are prepared to support schools financially too! Every academic term our Fund is shared equally across participant schools to supplement their fundraising efforts. Our partnership with schools is a proven formula for success; we have helped schools benefit from £50,000 extra books since our business inception.

For participating in our challenge, all pupils receive prizes: a certificate, discount voucher, bookmark. Plus there are special recognition prizes along the way: stickers, books… and plenty of surprises!
